There has been several reported near misses with children running after lost balls into the road.
The gate and path from it are owned by Essex County Council, the gate must be accessible for everyone, so mobility scooters, wheel chairs, prams must be able to pass easily and safely. As such, it is not possible to change this entrance.
To create a safe area for our children we are working to put up RoSPA compliant fencing with two RoSPA gates at each end. We have already received a £2000 grant from our local councillors Michael Staines and Mark Ault. With £13,000 of costs we are applying for a grant to enable us to deliver this. The grant decision will be made middle of September.
We also want to add a hedge near the tennis court with a Planter, this will be done in conjunction with the School and the Shalford Horticultural Society. We also have two benches donated for this area and these will be added to the existing one.
